We’re excited to introduce the Bulldog Trucker Jacket and Bulldog Denim, a small, limited collection created to commemorate 20 years of Save Khaki United.

Why denim? some might ask.

“Aren’t you a chino house? Didn’t you start the company by updating chinos in the middle of a sea of denim brands?”

You’re absolutely right.

But David was a vintage junkie.

His old apartment in New York had a display of vintage denim washes hanging as decoration. More often than not, we’d see him wearing a pair of jeans he had discovered and coveted through years of collecting.

So as we thought about how to celebrate 20 years of SKU—and, more importantly, celebrate David’s work and the person he was—we naturally looked to his own uniform. These pieces are a small tribute to something he loved and lived in, made for the friends and fans who have been part of this journey with us.

Both pieces are crafted from Mount Vernon Broken Twill, a fabric with a distinctive place in denim history.

The story goes: right-hand twill was Levi’s, left-hand twill was Lee, and broken twill was Wrangler. Of the three, broken twill is by far the least commonly seen today. David was particularly inspired by Wrangler—the brand, its history, and the construction of its denim.

On the Bulldog Denim, you’ll find fully felled outseams and inseams, built into the same mid-rise, straight-leg fit we introduced with our Mill Worker’s Denim last November.

There’s also something new for this special release: a GOOD WORK self-fabric patch on the back of both the denim and the trucker jacket.

We’re not big on logos. More often than not, our patches are left clean and understated. But 20 years felt like a good reason to say it a little louder.

And because doing denim well is as much about how it’s made as how it looks, we partnered with Saitex USA, a Fair Trade-certified, B Corp-certified manufacturer and one of the world’s leading denim specialists.

Every step of making these garments happens under one roof—from cutting and sewing to washing, dry processing, finishing, and packing. Keeping the entire process together allows for greater quality control and a higher level of execution.

Denim processing has traditionally been water-intensive. At Saitex, 98% of the water used in processing is recycled, purified, and reused on-site. The remaining 2% is lost through natural evaporation.  Their closed-loop system means water is never discharged into the municipal sewer. Instead, it is continuously treated, cleaned, and returned to the process—helping significantly reduce the environmental impact of making denim.

It felt especially right to make this collection with a partner who shares our belief that good work is about more than the finished garment. It’s about the people who make it, how they make it, and the care put into every step.
